The Registered Nurse provides primary healthcare to the university students within the accepted professional nursing standards and protocols approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and works primarily with Mercyhurst students, coordinating their healthcare within the philosophical boundaries of the catholic university and within the legal, ethical, and professional standards of nursing. The Athletic Equipment Manager/Ice Rink manages all equipment and apparel under university standards and NCAA guidelines, while minimizing equipment loss; supervises student equipment managers and schedules the part-time Zamboni drivers; as well as works with the associate athletic director for operations and the coordinator for athletic operations/ice center maintenance staff to manage the rink schedule for internal and external use of the ice and maintenance schedule. The Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the director of Athletic Training Services; supervises the care of student-athletes participating in Mercyhurst University’s Athletic program; and prevents, evaluates, manages, and rehabilitates injuries within the university’s comprehensive Sports Medicine program. The Zamboni Driver operates/drives an ice resurfacing machine (Zamboni) correctly and safely to ensure and maintain acceptable ice conditions, as well as helping renters as needed and maintaining it.
