The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) supports Mercyhurst University's faculty, staff, and administrators in securing and managing external funding that advances the university's academic mission, research agenda, and community impact. OSP oversees all aspects of grants and sponsored research—from early proposal development through post-award administration—ensuring compliance, coordination, and strategic alignment with institutional priorities.

What We Do
    • Identify and disseminate funding opportunities from federal, state, foundation, and private sponsors
    • Provide guidance on proposal strategy, competitiveness, and alignment with sponsor priorities
    • Assist with proposal narratives, budgets, and required documentation
    • Coordinate internal approvals and submit proposals on behalf of the university
    • Support award setup, budgeting, and project launch
    • Assist with sponsor reporting requirements and timelines
    • Monitor expenditures and compliance with sponsor and institutional policies
    • Serve as a liaison between project teams, sponsors, and university offices
    • Ensure adherence to sponsor regulations, institutional policies, and ethical standards
    • Support research compliance requirements, including reporting and documentation
    • Reduce institutional risk through consistent oversight and best practices
    • Align external funding efforts with Mercyhurst's strategic plan and institutional priorities
    • Coordinate cross-unit and interdisciplinary grant initiatives
    • Partner with academic units, centers, and institutes to scale impact
