Mercyhurst University takes more honors
Let’s be honest, it feels good to be recognized. We are proud to say that Mercyhurst is consistently ranked among the nation’s best, and our growing enrollment is yet another proof point: In 2011-12, we achieved record-setting, institution-wide enrollment.
Most notably, in 2012, Mercyhurst achieved university status. What does this mean to you? Simply put, our approach to undergraduate studies remains the same; you’re getting a university-quality education with the personal attention and flavor of a liberal arts college. And importantly, the name change does affect international recruitment: Outside the U.S., “college” often means something more like high school, while “university” is equated with a true post-secondary education.
We know that students don’t choose Mercyhurst based on semantics or the number of plaques on our walls, but when you see some of the distinctions we’ve received over the years, it will give you a better idea of what it means to be a student – and future alumnus – of Mercyhurst University.
And with more than 50 majors, along with a wide variety of minors and concentrations to choose from, you can design a program that will do more than help you earn a degree; it will help you focus and reach your career goals. Whatever major you choose, all our programs provide valuable hands-on opportunities, so you can apply what you’re learning in the classroom to real-world situations.
