The Mercyhurst University Class of 2026 will sponsor one of Mercyhurst’s Centennial markers located at the Student Union. The marker will highlight early student life at The Roost, honoring the traditions, community, and campus culture that helped shape Mercyhurst in its early years. It will serve as a lasting tribute to the university’s history and the role this year’s graduating class plays in preserving it.

Seniors presented a check for $5,979 contributed by 89 donors to Mercyhurst President Kathleen A. Getz, Ph.D., in a special ceremony on Wednesday, May 13, at 4 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel. The gift is the result of this year’s fundraising activities. At the ceremony, seniors who contributed $20.26 in honor of their class year were recognized with green philanthropy cords to wear at graduation.

This year’s committee members described their gift as a collective statement of appreciation and an effort to leave behind something meaningful for future Lakers, reflecting their love and appreciation for the Mercyhurst community.

Fundraisers held throughout the year, such as Celebrity Bartending, Party at the Stone, a senior auction, and various business partnerships and sponsorships, supported this initiative while building community relations and leaving a lasting impact.

This year’s Senior Class Gift chairs include Grace Fratz and Kelly Lewis. They were advised by Director of Annual Giving & Stewardship Meaghan Hubert ’16 ‘18.

Since 1989, each senior class has presented the university with a parting gift as they graduate.

This year’s class leaves a mark, both physically and symbolically, as they bid farewell to the Hurst and strengthen the next generation of Lakers.
