External Scholarships
Submit Your Awarded External Scholarships to Student Financial Services!
If you are awarded an external scholarship, please email a copy of your acceptance letter to sfs@mercyhurst.edu. Please ensure your name and the dollar amount of the award are listed on the acceptance letter. Once received, the scholarship can be included in your financial aid package and applied to your student account as a pending credit until payment is received.
Searching for External Scholarships
External scholarships are developed and funded by private organizations. They’re available to the public and can potentially help students cover the costs of their education and education-related expenses. Student eligibility rules are created by the organization offering the scholarship and can depend on many factors.
Safety Tips to Keep in Mind While Searching
There are plenty of legitimate scholarships and sites dedicated to helping you.
- Always make sure to research the scholarship you are applying for
- Do not pay anyone to conduct a search for you
- Never apply if it requires cash up front
- Be cautious of offers that seem too good to be true
Consider focusing on local opportunities. They are not widely advertised and typically have fewer applicants.
