Dr. David J. Livingston began his two-year interim presidency at Mercyhurst University on July 1, 2026. Prior to serving at Mercyhurst, he served for ten years as Lewis University’s 10th president.

While at Lewis, Dr. Livingston added new health science programs, as well as saw significant growth in Aviation and Computer Science. Under his leadership, Lewis completed a merger with St. Augustine College, adding more than 700 students and three additional campus locations. Lewis also had significant growth in international students during his tenure.

Dr. Livingston previously served as president of Lourdes University. During his tenure, Lourdes experienced an increase in the quality, retention, and graduation rates of its students.

Prior to his presidency at Lourdes University, he served Mercyhurst University for 16 years in various capacities, including as a faculty member in the Department of Religious Studies, president of the Faculty Senate, and vice president for Advancement.

Dave has been married to his wife, Joan, for 39 years. They have two children, Matt and Sara, and two grandchildren, Krish and Amara.
