University Archivist; Thomas J. & Michelle Ridge Archivist; Lecturer; Co-Director of iMU First Year Experience; Academic Services and Support Coordinator
Mr. Colvin is a seasoned expert in archival theory and European and public history, currently serving as the University and Ridge Archivist at Mercyhurst University. In this role, he oversees the organization and digitization of critical historical collections, and as the primary contact for archival research requests, he is central to the university's preparations for its upcoming Centennial in 2026. Outside of the archives, Mr. Colvin is an engaging educator who teaches courses within the Thomas B. Hagen History Department on topics such as Introduction to Archives and Records Management, Western Cultures, Medieval History and World History.
In addition to his archival and teaching roles, Mr. Colvin plays a vital part in student support and orientation as the Co-Director of iMU First Year Experience and Academic Services and Support Coordinator. These positions see him aiding in the seamless transition of new students into the Mercyhurst community and ensuring they have the academic resources and guidance needed for success. Through his diverse roles and responsibilities, Mr. Colvin stands as an invaluable resource for students looking to understand both the past and how to navigate their future at Mercyhurst University.
