Mercyhurst scholarship offers 50% tuition cut for new ed. majors
University officials have decided to award a $15,000 Education Department Scholarship to students who enroll as first-time freshmen or transfers in the education department for the Fall 2012 term. The scholarship, which applies to those in early childhood, special education and middle level education, amounts to a discount of more than 50 percent on tuition and fees.

Mercyhurst's Dausey among top profs to deliver free online courses
Beginning in February, Mercyhurst University Public Health Professor David Dausey, Ph.D., will be an Internet connection away from the masses via computer, tablet and smartphone, thanks to a new initiative of Udemy, Inc., a marketplace for online learning. He will join a number of professors from prestigious universities in teaching free online courses.

Mercyhurst dancers present 14th annual 'Raw Edges' performance
The Mercyhurst College Dance Department will present the 14th edition of its popular Raw Edges series Feb. 3-5. An Erie favorite, the concert showcases the works of young choreographers and performances by the Mercyhurst Dancers and several returning dance alumni.

Mercyhurst to launch Carpe Diem Academy with $1.5 million PDE grant
Mercyhurst College announced today a grant of $1.5 million from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to launch the school’s Carpe Diem Academy, an academic enrichment program designed to help K-2 students in seven schools within the Erie School District meet state and local academic standards.
