A professor at Mercyhurst since 2005, Dr. Anne Zaphiris has a plethora of academic and professional experience. Prior to arriving at Mercyhurst, Anne taught at State University of New York at Buffalo, Penn State Behrend and Kent State University. Her experience includes service as a communication consultant where she designed communication training and development courses, conducted communication audits, and developed organization-specific training.  Anne earned her doctoral degree in Organizational Communication from State University of New York at Buffalo and her master’s degree from Kent State University. Her research interests include organizational identity, image and reputation; corporate social responsibility initiatives; communication and social change; and environmental issues. Along with Organizational Leadership students, Anne developed a social change campaign to raise awareness about toxins in personal care products and effects on health environment.  Anne and her husband, Dr. Thomas Mack, have a son, Aidan Zaphiris Mack, who keeps them busy with soccer.

    Anne's expertise lies in communication theory which is highlighted by her dissertation, "A semantic network analysis of global corporate values statements." She imparts her knowledge not only through classroom teaching but also through her involvement as the Program Director of the Organizational Leadership graduate program.

    Prior to arriving at Mercyhurst, Anne served as the director of the Principles of Communication course at State University of New York at Buffalo. She was a member of the adjunct faculty at Penn State the Behrend College and at Kent State University's Main and Ashtabula Campuses

    Her research interests include organizational identity, image and reputation; social responsibility initiatives; communication and social change; and environmental issues. Anne's current research includes: a longitudinal examination of global corporations' value statements to monitor changes related to globalization and convergence, a content analysis of value statements of Fortune's Best 100 Companies to Work, and an exploration of corporate social responsibility annual reports.
