Mercyhurst University will host the all-state student wind ensemble on campus for two days, April 20 & 21, as part of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Conference at the Bayfront Convention Center.
As part of this year’s conference, April 19-22, more than 85 professional development sessions will be presented by clinicians from across the country. The 2017 conference will also feature performances by ensembles from all genres of music and age levels at the Warner Theatre.
This year, Mercyhurst is home to select secondary school students from 60 schools across Pennsylvania participating in the PMEA All-State Wind Ensemble with guest conductor John R. Bourgeois Colonel USMC (ret.), Director Emeritus, U.S. Marine Band. Bourgeois has either performed for or conducted for every U.S. president from Eisenhower to Clinton.
Mercyhurst President Michael Victor and Mercyhurst Band Director Robert Reid will welcome the musicians to campus on Thursday morning at their rehearsal venue, the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center.
