Giving Day Student Stories: Mary Claire

Tuesday, March 30, 2021

mary claireInvolvement for Mercyhurst students goes beyond just clubs, sports, and activities on campus. It connects to real-world hands-on learning beyond the classroom. Mary Claire ‘22, an Early Childhood and Special Education major, knows this experience first-hand.

She is captain of the Mercyhurst Cheerleading team, a Student Ambassador, and a student leader for Campus Ministry. With all of that responsibility, she still finds time to make her academics a priority. She serves as the secretary of Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, and as a member of the Council for Exceptional Children. She is also a Teacher at Carpe Diem Academy.

With all of her experience inside the classroom, Mary Claire notes, “After graduating, I hope to get a job teaching 3rd or 4th grade and I also hope to get my master's degree in special education.”

The annual fund and student scholarship program not only benefit clubs and activates on campus, but it also provides vital resources for these hands-on learning initiatives for our students to participate in.
