Research and Teaching Interests:

Dr. John-Danzell joined the Department of Applied Sociology and Social Work at Mercyhurst in 2017. She earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work at Kansas State University in 2017. Her dissertation examines the social and cultural construction of age in unretirement in post-industrial America through interviews and ethnographic research. Her substantive research and teaching interests lie in the areas of intersectionality and aging, demography, employment trends, retirement, gender and global inequality, states and social movement. Dr. John-Danzell teaches Introduction to Sociology, Social Statistics, Social Gerontology, Global Problems and Social Change, and Human Trafficking courses.
