Gary Cardot is Assistant Professor of Art and the Program Director of Studio Art and the Photography Minor. He has bachelors and masters degrees in History from Ohio University and the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Fine Art degree in Photography from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA. He has also studied photography at Edinboro University, International Center of Photography, New York, New York and the Maine Photographic Workshops. He has taught full-time at Mercyhurst University since 1994. He teaches courses in Photography and Art History.
From 1992 to 2004, he was the Director of the Cummings Gallery. He has exhibited in museums and galleries, locally and nationally including the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, Pa., the Erie Art Museum, Chautauqua Art Association, CEPA Gallery in Buffalo, New York, Shroeder-Romero in New York, New York, Silver Eye Gallery in Pittsburgh and the Aschermann Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Cardot frequently organizes bus and van trips for art majors to the many regional art museums throughout the tri-state region. He is also the advisor to the Photography Club.
