Mr. Bernhardt is an adjunct instructor for the Department of Intelligence Studies at Mercyhurst University, specializing in competitive intelligence. Douglas has considerable international experience as a consultant and lecturer in competitive intelligence, and before that in the defense industry. He founded one of Europe’s leading competitive intelligence consultancies which he ran throughout most of the 1990s, and is the author of numerous articles, as well as two books published under Financial Times imprints (Perfectly Legal Competitor Intelligence, 1993 and Competitive Intelligence: Acquiring and using corporate intelligence and counter- intelligence, 2003) on the subject. From 1996-9 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP). He also lectures on competitive intelligence as part of the MBA programmes at four leading South African business schools.
