Returning to the PAC after a sold-out show 13 years ago is the self-proclaimed “Certified Lunatic and Master of the Impossible.” Tomáš Kubínek escaped Soviet oppression in his native Czechoslovakia at a young age and found refuge on the vaudeville stage. His passions for theater, magic and clowning swelled and, at age 9, he gave his first show, setting him on his way to becoming an internationally acclaimed artist whose shows blend comic brilliance and irresistible charm. Kubínek’s unique style of comedy has earned him a sold-out run on Broadway, rave reviews from London’s Royal Festival Hall and a touring career spanning more than 30 countries – and now his performance arrives in Erie capping a weeklong artist-in-residency program.
With Kubínek, we’ll pull back the velvet curtain and celebrate a time when audiences laughed out loud at traveling troupes and clowning transcended red hair and face paint. Part clown, part mime, part acrobat, Kubínek’s collision of absurdist theatre and circus magic has captivated children and adults worldwide, leaving them clutching their sides with laughter.
