The Roche Visiting Artists Series at Mercyhurst University will welcome noted composer Eric Ewazen to campus for a recital of his compositions on Nov. 3. Ewazen, a faculty member at The Juilliard School since 1980, is one of the major composers of our time. His works have been commissioned and performed by soloists, chamber ensembles and orchestras in the U.S. and overseas and widely published and recorded. On Monday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m., Mercyhurst students, faculty and special guests will perform a selection of his chamber music, including works for brass, voice and piano. At a masterclass on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 2 to 3 p.m., he will coach the performance of his own music and critique works by Mercyhurst student composers. Both events will take place in Walker Recital Hall and are free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of the Terry M. and Margaret Roche Family.
