Opera: ‘Magnificent Masks’
The spring production by the D’Angelo Opera Theatre – titled “Magnificent Masks” – will be livestreamed on Wednesday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. Director Louisa Jonason came up with the concept and also designed and constructed costumes. “Wearing masks is very difficult for singers,” she pointed out. “It's almost as impossible as wearing gloves for a pianist! However, we have to wear them, so I decided to call them ‘Magnificent.’ The singers are doing beautifully in spite of the object on their faces.” Elizabeth Etter will be the pianist for the performance, which will showcase music students performing arias from works ranging from West Side Story to Madama Butterfly to Die Fledermaus. You can find the livestream link on the Music Department website.
