The D’Angelo Department of Music will present a variety of small ensembles in concert on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. in Mercyhurst University’s Walker Recital Hall. The Saxophone Quartet will present a beautiful arrangement of October by Eric Whitacre; an upbeat jazz chart titled Hip is What?; and a baroque piece by J.S. Bach titled Little Fugue, BWV. 578. The Clarinet Choir will present A Stephen Foster Medley; a Brazilian-influenced piece titled Tico Tico by Zequinha Abreu; and Alfred Hitchcock’s old theme song, Gounod’s Funeral March of a Marionette. The Flute Ensemble will perform selections from Three Pastorales for Flutes by Henri Tomasi, Sonata for 3 Flutes in G Major by Joseph Bodin de Boismortier and some holiday favorites. Also on the program will be the Chamber Choir, Woodwind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble and String Chamber Ensemble. The concert is free and open to the public; call 814-824-2394 for more information.
