Lecture: Conscientious Objection in Health Care

Wednesday, March 9, 2016 - 4:30pm
Zurn 114

The Evelyn Lincoln Institute for Ethics and Society presents Mark Wicclair, an adjunct professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, to discuss “Conscientious Objection in Health Care: Deciding When to Accommodate Health Professionals.” While conscientious objection has its historical roots in objections to military service, a growing number of health professionals have refused to provide a broad range of medical services that violate their ethical beliefs. Wicclair will analyze varying approaches to managing conscience-based objections to providing medical services. The talk is free and open to the public.
