Alumni are invited to attend with their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, our first ever Bedtime Story Reading on Zoom!

Guests will hear from alumna Kristin (Peterson) Pierce ’08, author and founder of Inner Compass Books and Inner Compass Academy. Kristin will share two of her children’s books, Mayva O’Meere, Creationeer and The Sweet Dreams Express.

Kristin credits a course from her Mercyhurst days as inspiration for Mayva O’Meere, Creationeer: “Art Appreciation at Mercyhurst had a significant impact on my children's book, Mayva O'Meere, Creationeer. Despite having to memorize and regurgitate titles, artists, and eras about more artwork that my brain could retain, I was in complete awe of the creative minds, talent, and patience of these artists--many of whom spent years working on their masterpieces. In learning about art history, it also broadened my knowledge of the world and its decadent history, which I now cherish and value more than I could have ever anticipated. It was this fascination that led me to add a historic art element to Mayva O'Meere, Creationeer. The book contains 19 historic art references within the illustrations, along with a fun Creative Art Reference Guide at the back of the book that gives children information about each work of art.
