David Schroeck, the guest alumnus whose work is featured in this year’s Art Faculty Exhibit, will talk about his pottery, techniques and art education on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 10:30 a.m. in Cummings Gallery.
Schroeck received his art education degree from Mercyhurst in 2000 and teaches ceramics and sculpture at Mercyhurst Preparatory School. He incorporates animation in his sculpture classes using the latest technology and 3-D printer.
His work was chosen “Best in Show” in the 2013 What Those Who Teach Can Do Art Educator Show at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He sells his pottery at his online store, Misery Bay Pottery.
Schroeck exhibits white earthenware using low-fire glazes and incorporates steel wire and brass into his industrial designs in this year’s Annual Art Faculty exhibition currently on display.
