A Mercyhurst Christmas Gala
The D’Angelo Department of Music is proud to present A Mercyhurst Christmas Gala, an annual holiday festival performance featuring the Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, and Civic Orchestra. The holiday festival performance will be held on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. in the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center.
A Mercyhurst Christmas Gala promises a joyful afternoon of music, beginning with the Concert Choir. Sacred carols such as “A Hymn to the Mother of God,” and “The Huron Carol,” plus other heartwarming pieces, will be performed by more than 50 voices, both music and non-music majors, who join together under the baton of C. Thomas Brooks. The choir will be followed by the Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. Scott Meier, performing classics such as “Stille Nacht” and the yuletide fun of “Sleigh Ride.” The Mercyhurst Civic Orchestra, comprised of students, faculty, and community members, will present holiday favorites such as “The Christmas Song,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and “White Christmas,” directed by Jonathan R. Moser. Closing out the afternoon’s festivities, the audience will be encouraged to join in a carol sing-a-long!
No admission fee will be charged, although donations can be made at the door. Please follow the university’s indoor masking requirements. Join the D’Angelo Department of Music to begin this holiday season with music and mirth!
