Peggy-Black

Dr. Black is a native of Erie and has been employed in multiple healthcare agencies throughout the county prior to joining the social work faculty at Mercyhurst University in 2001. Her social work experience was predominantly dealing with an adult population, having worked in hospitals, nursing homes, as well as with hospice and dialysis patients. She currently serves as the chair of the social work program and assists in field supervision for senior social work students. Dr. Black resides with her husband Jim and they are the parents of two adult sons. In her spare time, Dr. Black enjoys relaxing with a good book, listening to music, and taking summer vacations with her family.

2002 Social Worker of the Year: Northwest Division of PA-National Association of Social Worker
2006 Mit Joyner Award for Innovative Programs in Gerontology, honorable mention
2006 - Honored by the Erie Geriatric Social Work Association for her dedication and foresight in the development of geriatric social work.
