Telephones/Cable

Each room in the residence halls and each apartment is equipped with a phone jack and local/on-campus phone service; phones are not provided. To call numbers on campus, the student dials the last four digits. Long distance calls can be made by dialing 16 XXXX 91 (area code)(phone number). The XXXX is the student's four-digit authorization number assigned by the college. Students are forewarned to be vigilant with regard to this number, as they are responsible for all calls made with their student authorization code.

Basic cable service is provided by the college and Mercyhurst Student Government. There is no need to set up an account with the cable company to receive the basic service. Students wishing to expand their service need to make arrangements with the local cable company for installation and payment. It is the student's responsibility to return digital cable equipment at the end of service.

Computers/Network Services

The residence hall rooms, apartments and townhouses are equipped with a "port per pillow" network connection. Students must provide their own computers.

Students are automatically provided with e-mail, WebAdvisor and Blackboard accounts. Special student pricing is available for Dell personal computers, Apple computers, Microsoft software and antivirus software.

Storage

There is no storage space available on campus. Students who need storage can make arrangements with local storage facilities.

Laundry Facilities

Each hall and apartment complex has washers and dryers available for student use at no charge. Questions or concerns should be addressed to housing maintenance (814) 824-2334.

Housekeeping and Maintenance

Housekeepers are assigned to do routine cleaning in stairwells, hallways, lobbies, common bathrooms and laundry rooms. They will clean up unacceptable or out-of-the-ordinary messes, but residents will then be assessed a cleaning charge. Maintenance workers operate on a work order system. If something needs to be repaired, notify the RA or housing maintenance at (814) 824-2334.

Students should not attempt to make repairs themselves. Periodically, college personnel will be present in the buildings to repair and inspect residential facilities.
