The purpose of Active Minds at Mercyhurst is to increase awareness about mental health, mental illness and resources available; to become a point of reference for information on Depression, Bipolar Disorder, etc.; and to become a liaison between Mercyhurst and the mental health community.

Garden Gurus

Mission

The purpose of the Garden Gurus Club is to teach others how to become more sustainable by bringing garden products into the kitchen and learn different methods of preservation. It will also allow students to get to the garden easier, so more can be accomplished.

Mercyhurst Astronomy Club

Mission

The purpose of the Mercyhurst Astronomy Club shall be:

  • To encourage the growth of astronomical knowledge that cannot be further learned in the classroom
  • To spark an interest for astronomy in the minds of the youth and prospective/current students
  • To travel to areas that will serve to expand an individual’s astronomical knowledge
  • To generate a service to the community to learn about the many important roles of astronomy in the past, present and future world
  • To promote the personal development and intellectual growth while abiding by the mission, goals and policies of Mercyhurst College
  • To present a fun and interesting bobby that all people can enjoy
  • To present more positive social events for the student of Mercyhurst College that may also pertain to one’s interest
  • To keep students more involved with their school through a fun and enlightening organization
  • To get together and participate in activities that allow the members to bond and learn about astronomy

Mercyhurst Commuter Council

Mission

The purpose of Mercyhurst Commuter Council is to unite the commuter students in an organization/club form. This group will provide commuter students with the opportunity to organize on campus events aimed at their needs/interests and additional voice to be united and heard by the campus administration and student government. In addition, it will encourage the commuter students to relate with each other, to overcome and work through common commuter concerns, and to provide a stronger sense of belonging to the Mercyhurst community. This group is designed to promote leadership, while respecting and encouraging the values instilled upon us in the Mercyhurst College Mission Statement.

Mercyhurst Veterans Association

Mission

The purpose of the Mercyhurst Veterans Association (MVA) will be to serve as a means to connect Mercyhurst Veterans to other Mercyhurst Veterans as well as help Mercyhurst Veterans transition from military life to civilian life. The MVA will also serve to help Mercyhurst interact with its Veterans. In addition, the MVA will give back to the community and community veterans and foster the image of Veterans as model Americans.

Mercyhurst Yoga Club

Mission

The purpose of the Mercyhurst Yoga Club is to encourage a consistent "whole person" approach to the wellness of the individual on campus and the global community. We will investigae ways to practice compassion and justice in creative yet simplistic ways, on and off the yoga mat. We will do this by attendance at weekly yoga classes and other events that extend the example of commitment, discipline, and social consciousness.

Mission

The National Security Club (NSC) will be an umbrella organization that will bring together several national security related organizations /associations on the Mercyhurst campus. The purpose of the Prometheus Club will be to increase awareness and interest in prehistoric technology and ways of life outside of the classroom, as well as building on previous knowledge of prehistoric cultures.

Science Fiction & Fantasy Guild

Mission

The Science Fiction & Fantasy Guild (SFFG) is a student-led, student focused organization devoted to the promotion and enjoyment of science fiction and fantasy. The purpose of SFFG is to provide a social group for Mercyhurst students interested in science fiction and fantasy. SFFG will serve as a forum through which students can discuss literary works of science fiction and fantasy, or films and television shows of those genres; view shows or films of interest; exchange ideas regarding student writing in the two genres; and will serve the larger campus community by sponsoring activities for entertainment and recruitment purposes. SFFG will also work towards providing members with the opportunity to attend science fiction and fantasy conferences in the area, and or to bring science fiction/ fantasy writers on campus.

Student Alumni Association

Mission

The purpose of the Student Alumni Association is to preserve and promote the unique traditions and legacies of Mercyhurst College for future generations of students to appreciate. Forging essential connections between the past and present of the school will also serve to connect current students with successful alumni, creating opportunities for both parties. Students will be given the opportunity to plan and participate in a variety of programs, projects, and events designed to build excitement about the traditions of the school, highlight and preserve its history, and ensure the continuation of lasting legacies.

Student Athletics Advisory Board(SAAB)

Mission

The Mercyhurst College Student Athletic Advisory Board is dedicated to the athletic and academic advancement of all student-athletes. Mercyhurst College SAAB provides a forum for the discussion of student-athlete concerns and a channel of communication to the administrators through which these concerns can be heard. The Mercyhurst College SAAB will use the power of organization to promote not only the college's athletic teams but also help promote unity and good sportsmanship in the college community and the Erie community in general. SAAB creates an environment in which all varsity sports are represented equally. Mercyhurst College SAAB strives for student-athlete awareness on the Mercyhurst Campus.
