Hello from the Kelly Salvo Morey Career Services Scholarship Fund

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and our fund to you. Several years ago my wife, Kelly, died from breast cancer. She fought a great battle for over four years, after being told she would not survive one more year. With the help of family and friends, I decided to start a foundation to help others dealing with cancer. It is a way for me to give back to people in need, as so many people helped Kelly and I in our time of need.

I decided to start a fund within the Erie Community Foundation, to help people and families dealing with cancer. Our goal is to give the majority of proceeds from our functions to people in need, and the rest of the money to the fund to help others in the future.

Proceeds from an annual Golf Tournament are designated towards a Career Services Scholarship Fund at Mercyhurst College. The Scholarship Fund will be set up and designated to help students directly affected by cancer, whether afflicted themselves or a family member. As an alumni of Mercyhurst College, I am pleased to be able to become involved in a purpose that can affect students now and well into the future.

The Mercyhurst College Office of Career Services has partnered with me to ensure the goals and objectives of the scholarship fund are constantly met. The Annual Career/Job Fair held at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center allows over 100 employers the opportunity to meet with talented college students. The modest fair registration fee contributes to the programming of this first class event, and also assists in funding the scholarship.
