Twenty women and men recently graduated with an associate of science degree in nursing from Mercyhurst North East.
Graduates included: Sarah Balczon of Erie; Santina Barnes of Erie; Charlotte Burrows of Titusville; Erica Carbone of Erie; Kc Favorite of Saegertown; Heather Fiedtkou of North East; Kylee Firster of Erie; Tina Fout of Cochranton; Justine Hagge of Albion; Casey Hollabaugh of Erie; Trisha Howells of Fairview; Aubrey Humennyj of Erie; Sarah Johnson of Greene Township; Amanda Lantz of Meadville; Elizabeth Miller of Fairview; Meghan Proper of Meadville; Danielle Roach of Erie; William Stroup of Columbus, (PA); Carrie Sutton of Erie; and Emma Trump of Lake City.
Several graduates received awards during the ceremony. Erica Carbone was awarded the Academic Achievement Award as the student who achieved the highest quality academic work. Carrie Sutton received the Spirit of Nursing Award, given to the student who seized the day, grasped the opportunity when offered and served as an inspiration to others.
A new tradition was started at this graduation as Sister Lisa Mary McCartney, RSM, vice president for mission integration at Mercyhurst, presented a “Blessing of the Hands” for all graduates as well as any nurses present.
