Practical nursing celebrates 15 years, 691 graduates

Wednesday, August 24, 2016

Commencement ceremonies for students in Mercyhurst North East's practical nursing program will be held on Monday, Aug. 29, at 5 p.m. in the Great Room of the Michele and Tom Ridge Health and Safety Building on the North East campus.

Eighteen students will graduate from this one-year certificate program, ready to enter careers in hospitals, private medical practices, home hospice, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools, clinics and rehabilitation facilities.

Over the years a number of alumni have returned to Mercyhurst North East to further their careers through the LPN to RN Bridge program, a two-year program where they earn an associate degree in registered nursing. Many begin the program with at least 15 credits from their LPN experience.

With this graduating class, Mercyhurst North East celebrates 15 years of offering the practical nursing program and a total of 691 graduates.
