Discerning gourmands can satisfy their tastes for global cuisine at the latest International Dining Series, presented by the Culinary & Wine Institute of Mercyhurst University – The North East Campus.
The 2014 lineup of the popular dining series features six four-course meals designed and prepared by students in Mercyhurst North East’s culinary program.
“The International Dining Series is the capstone event for the culinary arts student,” said Beth Ann Sheldon, program director and division chair for Mercyhurst’s Hospitality Management program. “The student is the executive chef of the event and gets to experience everything from creation of menu, hiring of staff, ordering of food to supervising and participating in the execution of the meal. The public gets to attend an incredible culinary event and share in the students’ learning experience.”
The students plan each four-course meal around a specific nationality or theme. The first dinner, set for Oct. 9, features Italian cuisine. The remaining gourmet meals will highlight Spanish cuisine (Oct. 16), autumn offerings at Taste of the Season (Oct. 30), Mediterranean fare (Nov. 6), food of the Holy Land (Nov. 13), and a Tribute to Renowned Chefs featuring dishes inspired by Bobby Flay, Julia Child and other distinguished chefs (Dec. 4).

Dinners are $30 per person (includes tax) and are held at Lake View Country Club, 8352 Station Road (Route 89) in North East; memberships are not required. Seating begins at 6 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. A full cash bar is available.
