The Mercyhurst North East Spring Cultural Series kicks off with a presentation commemorating Black History Month.
Faculty member Alison Ollinger-Riefstahl joins students from her history class to present “African Americans in Films: Evolutions of Stereotypes” on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in Alex Theatre on the North East campus.
Ollinger-Riefstahl will present and discuss a selection of African American stars of film from its early stages through the contemporary era. The event will address how the roles and opportunities in film for black artists have changed while looking at some of the pivotal moments in film history when these evolutions occurred.
Like all Cultural Series events, this presentation is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required. For more information, contact Patti Sullivan at 814-725-6277.
