WQLN Public Media will honor Mercyhurst University on Friday, Nov. 20, as a 2015 Collegiate Challenge Winner for “Most Improved Fundraiser.”
Mercyhurst could not have done it without the generous and loyal support of donors who pledged on behalf of the university.
The final tally for funds raised on behalf of Mercyhurst was $7,382. That’s a 133 percent increase in money raised from 2014.
“As I have said on numerous occasions, philanthropic support has the power to transform. With the help of our faculty, staff, alumni and friends, Mercyhurst is pleased to do our part in supporting the news and cultural entertainment heard locally on WQLN Public Radio,” said President Michael Victor in accepting the honor.
WQLN will also present Penn State Erie – The Behrend College the honor of “Most Money Raised.”
WQLN raised over $80,000 of its 100,000 fundraising goal during the two weeks of the Collegiate Challenge where five other regional colleges and universities participated.
"WQLN Radio is a community resource that only survives because of the support of the public that owns it,” said Shannon Ferrare, development fundraising coordinator for WQLN Public Media. “We are grateful to Mercyhurst University and all of the schools that participated in raising those much-needed funds during the Collegiate Challenge. We're thrilled for Mercyhurst, which really raised the bar this year in their fundraising efforts.”
