Mercyhurst University will support public broadcasting by helping to raise money for the WQLN Collegiate Challenge on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the Carolyn Herrmann Student Union Great Room from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Mercyhurst will join five regional colleges and universities in fundraising efforts; these include Gannon University, Penn State Behrend, Edinboro University, Allegheny College, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and Pitt-Titusville.
Schools are competing for two trophies — Overall Money Raised and Most Improved.
Mercyhurst supporters can pledge online or via the pledge line at 814-866-5454. You can advance Mercyhurst by pledging now, or wait to show your support on October 27 when members of the Mercyhurst community join the staff from 91.3 WQLN-FM on air. Mercyhurst students will man the phone lines.
This year’s on-air talent includes:
6-7 a.m.: Caleb Ohmer, president of Mercyhurst Student Government
7-8 a.m.: Bethany Brun, coordinator of service learning and Michelle Ahrens `16, social work major
8-9 a.m.: Dave Hyland, interim associate vice president of academic affairs
9-10 a.m.: Michael T. Victor, president
10-11 a.m.: Michal Federici, chair of political science
11-12 a.m.: Rick Gotkin, head coach of men’s hockey
Noon-1 p.m.: Heather Garvin, assistant professor of anthropology/archaeology
