Mercyhurst reprises popular Arts on the Hill celebration

Monday, April 3, 2017

Ever wondered what an opera singer does to prepare? Curious about ballet? Or perhaps you have an artistic talent to share. Arts on the Hill 2017, an annual celebration at Mercyhurst University, is your chance to experience the arts from A to Z.

It’s all happening in Garvey Park on Thursday, April 20, from noon until 9 p.m. and, in case of rain, the Student Union Great Room. Everyone in the college community is invited.

Check out an assortment of booths with arts activities. Share your talent at the open mic session. Make your mark at the Chalk Walk. Or, join in the rhythm of a drum circle. The day culminiates at 8 p.m. in Taylor Little Theatre with the unveiling of the LUMEN: Creative Arts Journal.

“Last year was the first year for Arts on the Hill and it was a huge success,” said organizer Jodi Staniunas Hopper, associate professor of art. “Our purpose is to increase student awareness and appreciation for the arts. To accomplish that in a creative, festive environment makes the experience one you won’t want to miss.”
