Mercyhurst North East welcomes new faculty

Wednesday, August 5, 2015

There will be a few new faces on the Mercyhurst North East campus when the academic year kicks off on Aug. 26.

Three new instructors will be joining the faculty of the McAuley College of Associate Degree Studies on the North East campus. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program welcomes Karen Morahan, Ph.D.; Michael Lyden, Ed.D., will join the business faculty; and Keri Nothum, LMT, NCTMB, will head up the recently launched Massage Therapy certificate program.

New for the 2015-16 academic year, Massage Therapy is the latest expansion of the allied health offerings at Mercyhurst North East, which recently became a school member of the American Massage Therapy Association. One of two massage therapy programs in the Erie area and the only program to run evenings and weekends, this 900 clock-hour program will prepare students for careers in massage therapy in one year. Following graduation, students will be able to sit for the state licensure exam in Pennsylvania or Ohio.

Also happening around the North East campus, Steve Gregg, formerly assistant director of student financial services, is now director of programming at the Booker T. Washington Center, overseeing Mercyhurst’s education initiatives at the Erie site.
