The Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration has granted reaccreditation to the hospitality management program at Mercyhurst University for seven years. This marks the third consecutive time the program has earned accreditation for a full seven-year term.
The accreditation process requires three major efforts—a programmatic self-analysis, an evaluation by professional colleagues, and a review and decision by the commission.
“It is quite rewarding to learn of this achievement as it demonstrates Mercyhurst’s commitment to delivering quality hospitality education and premier management training,” said Daryl Georger, Ed.D., chairman of the Statler Department of Hospitality Management at Mercyhurst. “We are grateful to the administration for its support and we look forward to continued program excellence.”
Of Mercyhurst’s 2014 graduating class, more than 90 percent secured jobs. That’s well above the 2014 national average of 60 percent. Former students are in a myriad of management positions with leading national and international hotel, restaurant, institutional, and specialty firms.
Mercyhurst’s hospitality management department offers programs in hotel management, food and beverage management and event management.
