The latest pop-culture phenomenon has brought the world to a standstill and, with it, Mercyhurst University.
It goes like this. Get a group. Strike a pose. Keep it. Then try not to wobble, blink, sneeze, laugh or otherwise move, as a camera weaves through the scene frozen in time.
The popular viral hit, known as the #mannequinchallenge, has made its way to Mercyhurst, where individual groups of students and athletic teams have staged their own versions of the craze in recent days.
On Monday, Nov. 21, the university will go “all in” as everyone on campus is urged to pack the Mercyhurst Athletic Center for our own challenge set against the backdrop of a men’s vs. women’s basketball scrimmage. It’s all happening at 4:30 p.m.
Whether you are a player going for a layup, a cheerleader in the midst of a routine, a referee blowing his whistle, or a spectator rooting with your friends, the word will go out, and everyone will FREEZE in unison.
So, bring your spirit and your stamina, urged President Michael Victor. “We’re going to make this epic!”
