Mercyhurst Erie, MNE slate fall dining series

Hospitality management students at Mercyhurst University welcome the public to the annual Fall Dining Series.

The meals – planned and prepared by students – are served in the J.W. Marriott Café in Mercyhurst’s Center for Academic Engagement on most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5 p.m. through Nov. 30.

Dinner themes run the gamut from “The Big Easy” to “The Pacific Islander” to “Autumn Harvest.” The cost is $12 plus tax. View the full menus at

Also, the Mercyhurst North East Culinary and Wine Institute is set to begin its Fall Dining Series, which offers a half-dozen meals designed, prepared and served by students in Mercyhurst North East’s culinary arts program.

The series opens Thursday, Oct. 6, with “From Farm to Table.” The menu, planned by Eric Gomolchak, includes carbonated grapes on the vine with house-made crackers and a cheese assortment; a light and earthy root vegetable salad; herb-crusted chicken breast with roasted vegetables and potatoes: and tart cherry mint sorbet over fresh fruit.

Themes for the other dinners include “Tribute to Renowned Chefs” on Oct. 20; “Taste of Fall” on Oct. 27; “A Night in Italy” on Nov. 10; “Travels Through Eastern Europe” on Nov. 17; and “A Break from the Winter” on Dec. 8. The full menus can be found online at

The first five meals will be served at Lake View Country Club on Route 89 in North East, where a full cash bar will be available. The Dec. 8 dinner will be served in the dining rooms on the North East campus.

The price for each four-course meal is $30 (including tax). Seating begins at 6 p.m., and the meal will be served at 6:30.
