Look for a new format when the Statler Department of Hospitality Management at Mercyhurst University launches the next edition of its popular student-run dining series on Friday, Feb. 9.
Rather than serving a standard meal to all patrons, the students will offer guests a choice of three entrées at each meal. For the students who plan, create and serve the dinners, the experience will be more like running a real restaurant.
Dinners will be served Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through April 25, except during Mercyhurst’s spring and Easter breaks, serving from 5 to 5:30 p.m. in the department’s Marriott Café.
On Mondays, diners will choose from Raspberry Balsamic Glazed Chicken Breast, Grilled Honey Bourbon Sirloin Steak, and Roasted Orange-Rosemary Salmon.
Options on Wednesdays will be Grilled Steak Fajitas, Fiesta Chicken, and Baked Salmon with Honey-Mustard and Almond Crust.
Friday’s menu will feature Roasted Chicken Roulades with Spinach and Artichokes, Grilled Sirloin with Mushrooms and Onions, and Grilled Salmon with a Bourbon-Pecan Praline Sauce.
The dinners, still priced at $12, will also include an appetizer, soup or salad and a choice of desserts.
Reservations are required for all Dining Series events, but guests will not have to specify their entrée choice in advance. Student servers will take their orders on site.
To make a reservation for any event in the Spring Dining Series, call (814) 824-2565 weekdays after 9 a.m. and leave a message. A student assistant will confirm your reservations within 48 hours, and will call again a week before the meal (guests are asked to reconfirm within 48 hours). Reservations cannot be accepted for parties of more than eight.
