The Mercyhurst University community is coming together in support of longtime hockey equipment manager and athletic trainer Mike Folga, who is staging a battle against cancer. Mike – affectionately known as Folgs – has been a critical part of Mercyhurst hockey for nearly two decades.
Prior to joining Mercyhurst, Folgs held roles in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues, Team USA, and other professional hockey affiliates.
Mercyhurst will host a day of events on Jan. 26, 2019, aimed at raising support for Folgs and his family, as well as the American Cancer Society, the official charity of the NHL, which supports its Hockey Fights Cancer campaign. On that day, the women's hockey team will host Lindenwood at 2 p.m. before the men host American International at 7 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at hurstathletics.com/tickets. We expect capacity crowds and strongly suggest you purchase tickets prior to arriving on campus. All proceeds will be donated directly to Folgs and his family, as well as the American Cancer Society.
More details will be available on the event website as they are finalized.
If you would like to help by donating a raffle basket or auction item, please contact Ryan Palm at firstname.lastname@example.org or 814-824-3320.
