Center for Academic Engagement

The Ridge College of Intelligence Studies and Applied Sciences and its IT staff will host the Third Annual Tech Expo on Wednesday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 300 of the Center for Academic Engagement.

The hands-on event will allow the whole Mercyhurst community to get to know the latest in gaming, network security, wireless technology and computers. This year’s expo will be bigger and better than ever, including the first Mercyhurst geocaching contest. Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Players navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the “geocache container” hidden at that location. Five containers will be hidden on the Mercyhurst campus and contestants who locate them all will have a chance to win some cool tech prizes.

Also featured: the updated 3D sand table featuring augmented reality, the latest in virtual reality and virtual reality gaming computers, the latest in 3D printing technology, the return of the mind-controlled drone, a smart mirror, and much more.

All are encouraged to come out and enjoy the expo, have some refreshments, and meet the staff. There will also be a bake sale and a T-shirt sale to help defray event costs. For information, call 824-3693.
