Willing to bare it all? Mercyhurst students are joining the fight against childhood cancer by shaving heads to raise money for childhood cancer research.
The Mercyhurst Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is partnering with St. Baldrick’s Foundation to shave heads for cancer on Saturday, March 23, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Molly Brannigan’s Irish Pub, 506 State Street.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. St. Baldrick’s hosts signature head-shaving events where “shavees” collect pledges to shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer and raise money for life-saving research.
To get involved, simply sign up on the Mercyhurst PRSSA events page at www.StBaldricks.org. Click “Join Us” to log in and then choose your involvement. Here you can become a shavee, create a team or make a donation. Shavees will meet at Molly Brannigan’s at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, with shaving beginning at 1:30 p.m.
All event proceeds benefit St. Baldrick’s and its childhood cancer research initiatives.
“In the tradition of Mercyhurst we are taught to be servants and leaders in our community,” says Lauren Smith, Mercyhurst PRSSA vice president of professional development. “As students with many gifts, we are blessed with opportunities and are seeking a way to give back.”
