MNE women’s basketball off to nationals

BB

A rally honoring the Mercyhurst North East women’s basketball team as they head to Kansas for the NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament will be held Sunday at Liguori Fieldhouse. The university and greater North East community is invited to show their support of the mighty Saints during the 3:45 p.m. send-off. There will be refreshments and brief remarks before the players depart by bus.

Mercyhurst beat Jamestown Community College 66-59 in the regional championship on March 2 to become one of 16 teams participating at nationals, which are being held Tuesday through Saturday next week.

Mercyhurst goes into the tournament seeded 13 and will take on number 4-seed Mesa Community College on Wednesday at noon (EST). All games will be played at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.
