Women's hockey gets ninth consecutive NCAA bid

For the ninth consecutive time, the Mercyhurst University women's hockey team has received a bid to the NCAA Division I Women's Hockey tournament. The announcement came early Sunday night. The Lakers will travel to Ithaca, New York to take on the number two seed, Cornell. Eight teams are selected for the championship. Of the eight teams, the top-four teams are seeded.

Mercyhurst captured its 12th consecutive College Hockey America (CHA) regular season championship and tenth CHA Tournament Championship after beating Syracuse 4-1 on Saturday. The Lakers finished the regular season with an overall record of 28-6-1.
