The Mercyhurst North East men’s basketball team is ranked seventh in the nation, according to a new poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Head coach David Gahan and assistant coaches Daniel Bertolini and Timothy Lawrence have led the Saints through a 10-1 season.

“We are so proud of guys for what they have accomplished early in the season,” Gahan said. “But we realize that it’s a very long year, and it will only get more difficult. It’s important that we keep our guys focused and continue to take the season one game at time.”

The Saints are also the No. 2 scoring team in the nation, averaging 104.5 points per game. The Saints were unranked to start the season, but have been rewarded for their play with a ranking of 19th last week and then up the ranks to the No. 7 spot.
