Laker runner wins Cook Forest half marathon


Junior Jacob Griffin of the Mercyhurst University men's cross country team earned a victory at the 29th Annual Cook Forest Half Marathon held in Cooksburg, Pa., on Saturday, March 30.

Additionally, former Laker Keven Gregg and current Laker Michael Williamson finished first and second respectively in the 5K event.

Griffin ran the half marathon at a pace of 5:29 and crossed the finish line in 1:11:57. He was the only runner to run at a pace of less than 5:30. All told, 439 runners, primarily from Pennsylvania, ran in the event.

The Danville, Iowa, native edged out Erie native, 34-year-old Andrew Holland, by 14 seconds to claim the victory.
