The Mercyhurst Men’s Hockey Team and Mercyhurst Veterans Association will hold its annual Toys for Tots Teddy Bear Toss on Friday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m., during the Lakers versus American International College game at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Admittance is free with a teddy bear.

Fans are encouraged to bring a new teddy bear or stuffed animal to toss onto the ice when the Lakers score their first goal. All teddy bears collected go directly to local needy children for the Christmas holiday through the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program.

“Toys for Tots is a great charity and helping needy children during this special time of year is something we are eager to do,” said James Oefelein, president of the Mercyhurst Veterans Association. “This event gives fans a chance to come together and support a great college hockey team, and help local children at the same time. All the toys we collect stay right here in Erie.”
