Breckenridge named to DC think tank | April 14, 2011

James Breckenridge, chair of the Mercyhurst College Department of Intelligence Studies and Dean of the Walker School of Business, has been named an Academic Fellow with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. FDD is a non-profit, non-partisan think tank based in Washington, D.C., that seeks to educate Americans about the terrorist threat to democracies worldwide.

Mercyhurst Dancers stage 'Cinderella' | April 04, 2011

The Mercyhurst Dancers will close their 2010-11 season with Cinderella, the classic fairy tale set to the music of Prokofiev. Performances are Saturday, April 30, at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m. at the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center on the Mercyhurst College campus. In addition, the public is welcome to attend a special preview performance on Friday, April 29, at 4 p.m. (all seats $5, balcony only).

Artifacts from Peru's Huaca Prieta undergo analysis in Adovasio lab | March 23, 2011

A collection of plant fiber artifacts woven by inhabitants of Huaca Prieta, a pre-Columbian site of the Late Preceramic Period in northern Peru, is making its way to the laboratory of Dr. James Adovasio, director of the Mercyhurst Archaeological Institute. One of the world’s leading authorities in the analysis of basketry, textiles, cordage and other plant fiber-derived artifacts in prehistoric societies, Adovasio recently returned from a two-week excursion in Peru, where he analyzed basketry from recent excavations at Huaca Prieta conducted by Vanderbilt University archaeologist Dr. Tom Dillehay.
