MNE increases health grant partners

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Mercyhurst University – The North East Campus welcomes The Village at Luther Square and Great Lakes Home Health Care Services as the newest employers to sign on to its Allied Health Partnership Grant program, giving those employees access to a $1,000 per year scholarship to continue their education.

The scholarship program has garnered five other partner employers around the region since it launched in September 2013:  Saint Vincent Health System, UPMC Hamot; the Erie County Department of Health; Brevillier Village Retirement Community and WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y.

Students are eligible for the funds whether they enroll full-time or part-time in any of the allied health programs at Mercyhurst North East. The programs include the licensed professional nurse (LPN) certificate program; the LPN to RN bridge program; the associate of science in nursing program; the RN to Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) program; and associate degree programs in medical laboratory technician, occupational therapy assistant, physical therapist assistant and respiratory therapist.

The scholarship also applies to the university’s newest bachelor’s degree program in health care science, a 2-year completion program for those with an associate degree in a licensed healthcare profession.

The university is still welcoming workplaces to sign on as Allied Health Partner Employers. For more information on the Allied Health Partnership Grant or other financial aid initiatives at Mercyhurst North East, call 814-725-6217.
