Happiness is two kinds of ice cream, knowing a secret, climbing a tree…and reliving the innocence of youth with Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang.
The Mercyhurst Theatre Program launches its professional summer theatre program on June 19 with the beloved musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Presented in its award-winning 1999 Broadway revival version, the musical features recognizable snapshots of the “Peanuts” gang: Schroeder and Lucy at the piano, Charlie Brown and Lucy at the psychiatry booth, Linus with his blanket, Snoopy with his supper dish, and the whole gang at the baseball game. Comic sequences alternate with classic songs, such as “The Kite” and “Happiness,” making this show appealing to adults and children alike.
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown features Katie Conti (Lucy), Sarah Creighton (Snoopy), Maxton Honeychurch (Linus), Devon Meddock (Sally), Brandon Miller (Charlie Brown), and Matt Sprague (Schroeder). The production is directed by Brett D. Johnson, Ph.D., with music direction by James Bobick and choreography by Kelly Jean Graham.
Performances are Thursday through Saturday, June 19-21, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, June 22, at 2 p.m. in Taylor Little Theatre on the Mercyhurst campus.
Single tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for senior citizens and students; and $5 for youths. Group rates are also available. All performances are general admission seating, with doors opening 30 minutes prior to curtain.
