What to Bring

We recognize that "necessities" for college may vary from person to person; however it has been our experience that the items found on the packing list below have been most helpful for students during their stay on our campus.

The Don't-Bring-'Em List

• Candles or Incense - These are NEVER allowed in residence halls, and even on-campus apartments, because of the fire hazard. Even if you aren't going to light them, don't be tempted to bring them.
• Oversized fridge or microwave - These cannot exceeds the size and electricity limits for your room or apartment.
• Hot plate - These are also usually permitted in on-campus housing.
• Expensive equipment, particularly electronic - You may think that bringing very high-quality stereo equipment may make you a popular student on your floor. That may be true, but doing so may also make you a target for theft.
• Weapons - This includes swords, guns and pocket knives.
• Pets
• Alcoholic beverages
• Fireworks, firecrackers, or sparklers
• Halogen lamps - They are a fire hazard.
• Additional door locks
